Doubles WK PA Dolphin Cross

Having a TE in shotgun is pretty big this year. The reason being is that man bump is highly effective, however, the TE never gets jammed off the line of scrimmage in Madden 2012. In this play, the slot left WR as well as TE are on routes that completely destroy man coverage. In this play, look for the crossing route over the middle as the first read. When your WR breaks, the CB freezes for a split second causing the WR to get 4 yards of separation. The next read is the un-bumpable TE for the easy user catch over the middle. Pass lead down and...

Tight Doubles On Dolphins Post

Tight Doubles On is a new formation to Madden 12 and has been extremely popular. Every one knows how good the formation is against man coverage, however, less people know how effective it can also be verse zone coverage. The play Dolphins Post contains a zone beating corner to the TE, who is already un-bumpable. In this play, put your RB on a drag route to suck down the outside CB. Slant out the slot left WR for an easy pick up. Once your opponent has to worry about that, hit the TE on the corner route for an easy user catch. No zone guards...

Empty Y Flex WR Smash

The 5 wide formation has been gaining popularity in Madden 12. The reason being is that people have found blitz schemes to kill compressed shotgun formations. Adding in a 5 wide formation is a nice compliment to a compressed set. In this play, the route combinations absolutely kill zone coverage. The in route over the middle is the most underrated route in the game. Pass lead up once the WR breaks for an easy gain. The next read on the play is the post to the sidelines or the post over the middle. Both posts give you the opportunity for a big...

Weak Twins PA Slide

This play is extremely unique because of the route the FB is on. In man coverage, it is easy to switch man assignments on the same side of the field. However, in this play your opponent will be completely in the dark because the TE and FB are on opposite sides of the field. As you can see, the stutter step to the left and then cut back to the right glitches the defense leaving the TE wide open. The remaining reads on this play are the WRs on the left. The outside left WR is on a route that gets inside position every time for an easy user...

Split HB Draw

The West Coast playbook has many unique plays and formations. The split formation was popular last year with the FB belly as well as many hike throws to the flats. This year, the most effective play is the HB Draw. This draw resembles a handoff more so than a draw and has very good blocking. The main way people blow up the run is manually coming through the A Gap. In this run, the FB goes directly through the A gap to shield off any defenders. From there, you can choose if you want to stay up the gut or bust it outside for a nice gain. Play:...

Full House FB Slam

Full House can be a very effective formation when utilized and schemed properly. There are many good routes to the players in the backfield. Both of the outside players in the backfields have flat routes as well as hike throws that cut up field. Once establishing the pass, the run can be extremely hard to stop. The best run is the FB slam and it is only in one playbook. Motion the TE into the gap for an extra blocker and follow him to the promised land. Mixing this run and motion in with the Power O can be extremely effective. Play: FB...

Bronco HB Zone

There has been a demand for run plays of late. People are starting to look for go to runs on 3rd and 4th short amounts to convert a first down. Denver playbook features a very effective run in a formation that also contains a FB and HB dive to keep your opponent off guard. This run play, however, goes off tackle for a big gain. After motioning your TE, bust the run to the outside and let your blocks develop for a big gain. If you notice your opponent in zone coverage, feel free to cut the ball up field as opposed to cutting it outside. Play:...

46 Bear Defensive Scheme – Part 4

46 Bear Defensive Scheme – Part 4

Play Insight: This is a blitz that disguises the A-Gap pressure from earlier in the mini scheme.  This heat off the edge is somewhat different because the defensive end is coming from the area that should be the B-Gap.  The LT on that side gets sucked in and the RE comes in completely free, quicker than any other edge heat on the game. This is a break from the A-Gap heat from this same play from earlier in the mini-scheme.  Mixing in all of these different defenses in your scheme will have your opponent guessing which side the blitz is...

46 Bear Defensive Scheme – Part 3

Play Insight: This is another version of the most widely ran defenses by madden pros this year. A gap heat is difficult to get in this years game and to be able to do it with this little amount of adjustments is just incredible. It is important to have A gap heat when trying to put together a perfect defensive scheme.  This forces your opponent to block a running back at all times.  Being able to have both a man and zone setup of the same heat is really nice when using this formation.  It will always keep your opponent...

46 Bear Defensive Scheme – Part 2

Play Insight: This is a blitz that disguises the A-Gap pressure from earlier in the mini scheme.  This heat off the edge is somewhat different because the defensive end is coming from the area that should be the B-Gap. The LT on that side gets sucked in and the RE comes in completely free, quicker than any other edge heat on the game.  This zone version is a simple setup that will be a good mixup from the zone A-Gap heat given earlier in the mini-scheme.   Play: Buzz Weak Formation: 46 Bear Playbook: 46 Setup: 1. Pinch DL. 2. Crash DL...
