Deep Fork Presents Endless Possibilities

deepforkbig

Playbook: Arizona & Washington
Play:
Deep Fork
Formation: Gun Flip Trips

Setup:
1) Hot route the B receiver on the outside to a slant.
2) Hot route the X receiver to a smart routed Out route.
3) Motion B across the field and hike the ball just before he’s set so he gets a free release.

Reads
1) Circle route by the RB out of the backfield
2) The Slant
3) Either the Post or Corner
4) The Out route rocket

Why It Works:
This play is great vs Man AND Zone defenses, and gives you a high chance for a big play downfield. The Circle route by the RB & Slant route across the middle are great quick reads vs any defense; and rocket catching the out route is perfect as a last resort if all of your other options are covered. However, the biggest rewards on this play are the crossing Post and Corner routes, which are DEADLY. They just find a way to get open vs most defenses, and if you are unable to throw these routes as they are, they are also great rocket catch options.

Final Thoughts:
Gun Flip Trips is very unique and is one of, if not THE, best formation in this year’s game. There are so many different adjustments you can do with this one play, its ridiculous. This one just happens to be my favorite. You can leave your X receiver on his original circle route (which is a great man beater/rocket catch option), you can leave your RB in to block, you can change the motioned slant route to a streak and use him as a clearing route for the Post/Corner, etc… the possibilities are endless. What makes this play even more effective, is the other quick strike plays in the Flip Trips formation that help set this one up. With this play in your arsenal & the many other plays in this formation that compliment it, you’ll have your opponent doing everything he can to try to stop you.

Also, if the opponent is not covering the sideline in zone the original play with out motioning and hot routing the right outside WR with motion beats yellow zone for big gains. The defender(s) will abandon his route when he cuts to the sideline.

The WR goes in motion towards the inside runs straight, makes a cut for the outside like an out route and is wide open against yellow zone and sometimes purple cover depending on positioning.
